A new transatlantic rally starts from Portugal in October, taking participants from Porto to Brazil in five stages.

The Regata Atlantica stops at Lisbon, Madeira, Gran Canaria and the Cape Verde islands before heading across the Atlantic to Recife.

Organised by a group of Portuguese yacht clubs in conjunction with the World Cruising Club, the event will be run under CHS, IMS and CHS/Rally, under which a limited amount of motoring will be allowed. It starts on 17 October from the River Douro.
