The government of the German state of North Rhine-Westfalia has offered a bank guarantee to the ailing sailing boat builder Dehler Yachts, the German magazine YACHT reported.

The move follows an audit of Germany’s third-largest builder of sailing yachts, behind Bavaria and Hanse AG. Only last January, Dehler was expanding when it acquired
the Belgian Etap yard.

Marine industry watchers are keen to see how the latest development affects Dehler’s North American business.
