Legal action against 14 acting as deterrent, although 750 hostages still held
There has been a lull in piracy in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Although more than 750 seafarers are currently held hostage in Somalia, there has been no kidnappings in nearly two weeks.
The ongoing legal process against 13 Somalis and a Yemeni, accused of murdering four Americans after kidnapping them from aboard their yacht, Quest, is believed to be acting as a deterrent.
Among the current hostages are South African couple, Bruno Pelizzari and Deborah Calitz, captured from their yacht, Choizil, in November and the Danish Johansen family who were captured from their yacht, ING, in February.
