Legendary yachting cartoonist and East Coast sailing stalwart Mike Peyton dies aged 96
RIP Mike Peyton
It is with great regret that we announce the death of Mike Peyton. Mike passed away in his sleep on 25 January 2017, five days after his 96th birthday. He is survived by wife Kath and daughters Hilary and Veronica and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
Mike sailed well into his 90s and is seen here sailing his beloved East Coast
Sailors the world over will miss his insightfully wry take on the pleasures of cruising under sail but his legacy lives on in a great many books and countless memories of classic Peyton cartoons.
Mike had an unerring gift for capturing the ironic pleasures of sailing
Rest in peace Mike, and thanks for so many laughs.
