Mike Perham heading south-east at 11 knots
After a much delayed stopover in Cape Town, Mike Perham, 16, is heading out into the Southern Ocean on the next leg of his dream to become the youngest person to sail round the world solo.
His Open 50, Totallymoney.com has been fitted with new autopilot equipment, had rudder bearings replaced and had the mast overhauled.
The teenager, who will be 17 in March, now heads into uncertain waters as autumn approaches the dreaded Southern Ocean. It is believed that once he is clear of the Cape of Good Hope he will stay well north to avoid the wildest weather.
