Sailors invited to help create archive of experiences
Sailors who use Chichester Harbour are being invited to share their experiences and memories of the place as part of a project marking the Harbour Conservancy’s 40th anniversary this year.
Yachtsmen and other water users are encouraged to visit a dedicated website to leave stories, photos or videos. The conservancy hopes to build up a fascinating archive of first-hand accounts of the harbour through the generations.
A conservancy spokesman said: ‘What does Chichester Harbour mean to you? Have you a particular memory connected with the harbour?
‘Perhaps it was your first experience in a boat, a great day out fishing, an encounter with a seal or other wildlife or even an extreme weather event. Whatever your story, we want to hear it!
‘Simply tell your memory, add photos and video, or just browse through the hundreds of stories already online.’
Already the site has attracted stories and photos dating back almost 40 years.
