Believed to be the largest yacht to be transported by container ship, the world's fastest monohull is currently heading back across the Atlantic
During her maiden voyage last October Mari Cha IV shattered the west to east transatlantic record by sailing across in a little over six days. Not wanting to beat their own record, the carbon-fibre super-maxi is currently packed in with containers onboard Cielo del Canada, destined for the Mediterranean. At 140ft (yet weighing a mere 50 tons) she is believed to be the largest sailboat to be transported as deck cargo. With the Voiles de St Tropez next on the regatta hit list, the Robert Miller owned schooner (with identically-sized masts) is enjoying a well earned piggy-back across the pond.
