The Multiple Challenge Project that helps those with Multiple Sclerosis get afloat, seeks experienced sailors and new sponsors
On 25th April the ‘Multiple Challenge Project’ gets under way for the 2000 season. The yacht, a Bavaria 46 equipped for cruising and racing, leaves Chatham on the Medway to begin a 24 week long circumnavigation of Britain, in which some 130 people with Multiple Sclerosis will enjoy a week of adventure on the high seas.
The cruise will be clockwise, taking in the Isles of Scilly, Southern and Northern Ireland, the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland, the East Coast, Holland, Belgium, the Channel Islands, and France as far as Brittany.
The first crew will compete in the RORC Cervantes Trophy race from Cowes to Ouistreham. The project is looking for sponsors and is offering attractive packages including advertising and corporate sailing time.
There are also opportunities for experienced sailors, including racing types, to assist as mate or relief skipper.
