Royal Navy officers at Dartmouth Naval College are to take Yachtmaster exams as part of their initial training.  

Each intake of 100 Young Officer cadets will undertake a range of professional RYA shore-based and RYA practical courses alongside traditional Naval training such as warfare, staff skills, engineering, meteorology and oceanography.

The Royal Navy has increased on-water small boat training by 50%, which now includes RYA Training courses, helping to develop strong seamanship skills and enabling the cadets to meet the challenging standards expected by the Royal Navy.
