Court case on Thursday
Ocean sailor Marc Guillemot faces a fine of £100,000 on Thursday if convicted of alleged traffic scheme infringements when he appears before magistrates on Thursday.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency are prosecuting what they describe as a ‘French celebrity yachtsman’ for two breaches of Colregs Rule 10 (b)(I) in his yacht Safran.
He has been summonsed to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on Thursday 6 Dec 2012 at 14.00 hours.The yacht is sponsored by the Safran Group which is a large French company.
Guillemot had to retire from the Vendee Globe after losing his keel.
