Grand Expeditions announced yesterday that it has bought The Moorings, one of the world's leading yacht charter companies
The Moorings is the original yacht charter company and pioneered the concept from its first charter base in Tortola (BVI) , in the late 60s. Offering clients the opportunity to skipper their own yacht on a bareboat charter, or making the most of a skipper and chef, and laying back with rum in hand.
Now fully established worldwide, The Moorings has a compliment of 800 yachts in 24 locations from the Caribbean and Mediterranean to the South Pacific. Grand Expeditions is a collection of travel companies that offers travelers some of the most sought-after destinations. So for them, a yacht charter company completes the picture.
Chief Executive of The Moorings, Arthur Warshaw, is expected to keep his position in the company, and few other personnel changes seem likely. And, of course, if you’ve booked a holiday with The Moorings, there’s no need to be concerned as it will not be affected at all by the recent takeover.
