TV viewers can catch up with the trio of gentlemen explorers tonight on BBC2 at 9pm in the second episode of Top Dogs: Adventures in War, Sea And Ice. This time it’s Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s territory and he helms as Ranulph Fiennes and John Simpson crew on a yacht round Cape Horn.

Simpson gets his ropes in a muddle, Fiennes is seasick on deck, but RKJ is just happy to glug whisky.

But the intrepid polar explorer gets his own back in the last of the series next week when he’s in charge on ice.
