Applications for the RYA Club of the Year 2014 are now open. The awards are aimed at recognising and promoting the achievements of the flag officers, work party attendees, safety boat skippers and bar rota staff who work together to make yacht clubs a success across the UK.
The judges consider:
· Encouraging people to get on the water
· Providing a range of quality and safe activities for all
· Attracting new club members and volunteers
· Engaging with the local community, particularly young people
· Demonstrating good governance and club management
Jackie Bennetts, RYA Club Support Advisor said: ‘Being part of the RYA Club of the Year is a fantastic opportunity to put your club on the map. We know there are hundreds of clubs out there doing fantastic things to encourage even more people to take up our sport. The award allows us to recognise and to promote the achievements of the best of these clubs.’
Applications will be considered by the RYA Awards Panel from which the top five clubs will receive an Award. An overall winner will be chosen from these five finalists and will be announced at the RYA Dinghy Show 2014 in March.
If you think your club is successful and forward-thinking we want to hear from you. All you have to do to enter is download the RYA Club of the Year 2014 form, complete it and return to the RYA by the 18th November 2013.
