A 29ft yacht sank in the Firth of Forth at the weekend after running aground and wrapping its spinnaker around a house.
Forth Coastguard received a mayday broadcast from the Corby 29Jezebel IIat 12.45 on Sunday, reporting that the vessel was hard aground and that it needed assistance. Six of the crew were able to scramble ashore and the seventh stayed onboard.
The yacht was so hard aground that the spinnaker had to be cut off as it had wrapped itself around the roof of a house. The lifeboat then towed the vessel off but unfortunately it sank and is now sitting in three metres of water. The owner, a 61 year old hotelier who had stayed on board was rescued by lifeboat.
