Five airlifted to safety
The treacherous Goodwin Sands snared another vessel this weekend. The crew of the yacht Liquid Fusion contacted Dover Coastguard to inform them that their yacht was grounded at 13.30 on Sunday.
The Ramsgate inshore and all weather lifeboats were launched but the sea conditions were too rough to take the crew off by boat.
The five men were taken off by an RAF helicopter from Wattisham and taken to Manston Airfield, Kent.
The yacht later sank.
